The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has warned Nigerians against the marketing, sale, and use of an unregistered product identified as Menofix Capsules, citing concerns over its regulatory status and potential health risks.
In Public Alert No. 035/2026, the agency said it received a complaint about the product, including concerns that some of its ingredients could be linked to liver-related adverse effects. An investigation by NAFDAC confirmed that Menofix Capsules marketed by PureEve is not registered with the agency.
NAFDAC explained that the unregistered product is different from two similarly named products that are legally registered in Nigeria: Menofix Herbal Capsule (NAFDAC Reg. No. A7-103321L) and Menofix Powder (NAFDAC Reg. No. A7-103342L), both manufactured by Gudugudu Herbal Worldwide Enterprises under the Herbal and Nutraceuticals category.
According to the agency, the unregistered Menofix product is promoted as a hormone-free, vegetarian-friendly multivitamin and herbal supplement intended to support women during perimenopause and menopause. It is reportedly being sold over the counter through retail outlets and online platforms.
NAFDAC said it is tracing the product’s distribution network and has directed all zonal directors and state coordinators to intensify market surveillance and remove the unregistered product wherever it is found. The agency urged healthcare professionals, distributors, retailers, and members of the public to remain vigilant and avoid purchasing or using medicines that are not registered with NAFDAC.
Consumers are also encouraged to report suspected cases involving substandard or falsified medicines and medical devices to the nearest NAFDAC office, call 0800-162-3322, or send an email to sf.alert@nafdac.gov.ng.
