A study of pregnant women shows some commonly prescribed classes of antibiotics to be associated with up to a twofold increase in risk of miscarriage before 20 weeks.  A Canadian research study has shown that certain types of antibiotics can increase the risk of miscarriage before 20 weeks twofold. Many classes of commonly prescribed antibiotics, including macrolides, quinolones, tetracyclines and sulfonamides may be associated with an increased risk of miscarriage during the first 20 weeks of pregnancy, a Canadian research study has concluded.
