WHO disclosed this on Sunday via its Africa Region twitter account @WHOAFRO.
“Rinsing your nose with salt water does not prevent #COVID19.
“Keep safe by staying up to date with accurate information and be aware of misinformation on social media.”
The world health body also noted that “there is no evidence that regularly rinsing the nose with saline has protected people from infection with the new coronavirus.”
The UN agency however advised that the best way to prevent oneself from COVID-19 is to ‘do the five.’
“Don’t touch your face, keep a safe distance from one another. Stay home and stay safe,” WHO said.
The UN agency also noted that there are over 827,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Africa.
“Over 827,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases on the African continent – with more than 483,000 recoveries and 17,000 deaths,” it said.
