NAFDAC DG Urges Youths to Fight Drug Abuse

The Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye has called on all youths to take up the task of fighting drug abuse.

She made this known while giving her remarks at the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria Board of Fellows Mid-Year Meeting/Dinner which held on Wednesday at the Sheraton Hotel and Suites.

Prof. Adeyeye stated that no country can be better than its youth and that’s why she extended her hand of fellowship to the Young Pharmacists Group. She said NAFDAC as a result is partnering them to commence a nationwide anti drug abuse campaign.

Dr. Adeyeye explained that most of the people engaging in this dangerous act of drug abuse are young boys and girls, and as such, it is important that the youths are used in spearheading the campaign and reach out to others.

She went further to urge all citizens and professionals to ask themselves a pertinent question: “What are our roles as citizens and pharmacists?” She also asked pharmacists especially to ask themselves what their practice will contribute to the nation.

Prof. Adeyeye made it clear that the issue of Drug Abuse is a multi-sectorial problem that transcends all sectors and ages in the country. She urged the pharmacists gathered to join hands together to tackle this problem as “A lot of burden lies on us to defeat the menace of drug abuse”.
