Lagos, the Federal Capital Territory and 12 other states reported 753 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, according to figures released on Friday by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
The health agency also reported five additional COVID-19 related deaths.
The NCDC disclosed this on its official website on Friday.
According to the agency, Lagos recorded the highest numbers for new infections with 364 cases, Akwa Ibom – 141, Oyo – 74, Rivers – 46, Abia – 38, Ogun – 24, Kwara – 20, the FCT – 12, Ekiti – 10, Delta – 9, Edo – 6, Plateau – 5, Imo – 19, and Bayelsa one case.
The health agency said the 753 new COVID-19 infections have brought the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 180,661.
However, 166,560 COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged in the country, the agency said.
With five deaths reported, the death toll from the virus has risen to 2,200, NCDC said.
It added that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 2, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
