Bauchi Probes Death of 50 Children From Suspected Measles A committee is investigating the death of more than 50 children in Tijin and surrounding committees in Wajri council area of Bauchi state.
Suspected cases of measles have been reported in the area and across teh state.
Head of Bauchi State Primary‎ Health Care Development Agency ( BSPHCDA) ,Pharmacist Adamu Ibrahim Gamawa said suspected to have measles been admitted and are receiving treatment in various health facilities.
Gamawa maintained that‎ the cause  the reported death of children in Tihin and other communities have not been ascertained because they did not die in a health facility as such no sample was obtained to confirm the cause of death.
He however said that preliminary reports have indicated that most of the symptoms being exhibited by the children are similar to that of Measles.
He said that governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar has approved the release of N27 million to start Measles campaign‎ in the state.
Tihin village head, Alhaji‎ Shehu Idris Tihin had in a telephone interview with some journalists in Bauchi few days ago said that a strange disease is killing their children especially those aged under five years.
