Adekola Emerges as New ACPN National Chairman

Pharm. Adekola Emerges as New ACPN National Chairman Samuel Oluwaoromipin Adekola has emerged as the new national chairman of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN). The election held during the Annual General Meeting of the National Conference at SIO Event Centre, Benin, Edo State. Pharm. Adekola emerged the victor in the keenly contested race with 292 votes, while his opponent, Pharm. Chima Ogbu garnered 288 votes.

The Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Pharm. Yunusa Mohid Nasir FPSN announced the results during the closing banquet of the week-long event. He stated that 580 delegates were accredited and participated in the electoral process. Pharm. Adekola, who practices in Ondo State won the elections and was subsequently presented with the certificate of office at the banquet.

Pharm. Nasir also announced that the office of the publicity secretary which was contested for by Pharm. Sunday Ike, the former chairman of ACPN Abuja, and Pharm. Babatunde Samuel, who was the former Chairman of ACPN Kwara State, was won by the former with 331 votes to the latter’s 244 votes.

Other positions like the national vice chairman, national general secretary, national assistant general secretary, national treasurer and national financial secretary went unopposed.

The new ACPN national executives include; Pharm. Samuel Adekola as National Chairman, Pharm. (Rev) Dan Ajayi as National Vice Chairman, Pharm. Abosede Idowu as National General Secretary, Pharm. Wuyeb Nankap as National Assistant General Secretary, Pharm. Ambrose Eze as the National Treasurer, Pharm. Sunday Ike as National Publicity Secretary, and Pharm. Amokhafe Ahoke as National Financial Secretary.

Meanwhile Pharm. Dr. Albert Kelong Alkali who just vacated seat as leader of the association, continues to be accorded an executive recognition as ‘Immediate Past Chairman’, popularly referred to as IPC.

Pharm. Adekola in his acceptance speech expressed gratitude to God and all members of his campaign crew for being there for him. He also called on all pharmacists to bury the hatchet and join hands together to make the association great.
