ACPN IDEA Zone Sets the Pace with 10th Annual Pharmaceutical Business Seminar The ACPN IDEA (Ipaja, Dopemu, Egbeda and Akowonjo) zone has once again shown themselves as the pacesetters in the state as they held their 10th Annual Pharmaceutical and Business Seminar/ Workshop on Thursday, 21 June.

The event which took place at an event centre in the zone was graced by many dignitaries in the pharmaceutical industry including Pharm. Charles Ajibo, who is the Country Director and General Manager of Merck in Nigeria; he was also the chairman of the occasion. Other dignitaries at the event were: Pharm. Adeniran B.O.F Chairman, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter; Pharm. Obideyi Benedict, Chairman ACPN Lagos State Chapter; Pharm. Deji Osinoiki, the Father of the Day; Pharm. Abimbola Adebakin, CEO Advantage Health Care, who was also a resource person at the event, and many past zonal chairmen of the zone.

Amongst the topics discussed at the auspicious event which was tagged “Unlocking Your Financial Box” were, “The Pharmacist: A financial Literate”; it was anchored by Pharm. Tolulope Ajayi, the MD/CEO of Shekinah Pharmacy.

Giving her remarks at the event, the PSN Chairman Lagos State described the zone as a “Trailblazer” and a “Pacesetter”. She congratulated the zone for upholding the legacy that has been passed on to them by various chairmen that had come before them. She went further to encourage the pharmacists in the zone to bind strongly together so that there would be no room for charlatans in their midst. She urged them to identify with their zones as PSN wants every pharmacist to have a sense of belonging.

Pharm. Obideyi Benedict described the zone as the biggest and best zone in Lagos State as they always set the pace for others to follow. He stressed the fact that good financial management is very important for every pharmacist to run a standard and successful practice. He encouraged the leaders of the zone to come up with recommendations from the event that could be shared with other zones in the state so that they could all move forward.

The chairman of the zone, Pharm. Kola Sumonu expressed his gratitude to God for the success of the event. In his welcome address, he stressed that there was a need for a paradigm shift to a more practical approach in the delivery of the themes and lectures, which was why they included a panel session to make sure that the seminar was interactive and that participants got the best out of it. He also stated that they refused to bring resource persons from “the moon” but chose to look inward and pick from amongst themselves – who have been able to apply their knowledge practically and grow a thriving business from the scratch.

Pharm. Kola Sumonu while speaking to journalists at the event said that the zone was not only committed to financial excellence, but excellence in all ramifications including the fight against drug abuse. He made it known that pharmacists in the zone are particular about doing the right thing, and are constantly launching campaigns against drug abuse in the area.
