ACPN 37th Annual National Conference: Conference with a Difference The Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN) is gearing up for its 37TH Annual National Conference which is scheduled to hold from Sunday 1st to Saturday 7TH July, 2018 in the ancient city of Benin.

The National Chairman of the Association, Dr. Albert Kelong Alkali  told journalists at a press briefing that the theme for this year’s conference is “Medicine Abuse in Nigeria: A Call to Action For Community Pharmacists” and that it would be chaired by His Excellency Comrade Adams Oshiomole with Prof. Ray Ozolua as the keynote speaker.

He went further to state that the conference will be declared open by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Edo State Mr. Godwin Obaseki on the 3rd of July.

While speaking to the press, Dr. Alkali described the theme of this year’s conference as very apt especially at a time like this, when the country needs all the professions to join hands to move the country forward. He made it known that a Walk Against Drug Abuse would be carried out during the conference and it would be led by the wife of the Executive Governor of the state, Her Excellency Mrs. Betsy Obaseki.

The National General Secretary of ACPN, Pharm. Abosede Idowu stated that the Conference Planning Committee has gone all out to make the conference interesting and all inclusive and that so far the conference has recorded over 1,000 registered delegates which have never happened before. Different sub-themes in the conference are:

  • Strategic Leadership in Community Pharmacy
  • Growing the basket size through linked selling
  • Making Money, Saving Money and Growing Money.

She also said that there will be many social activities at night to keep all the delegates entertained and happy, making the conference a wholesome experience for delegates.

A major highlight of the conference will be the elections for new officers to run the affairs of the Association. All offices will be open for elections except the office of the General Secretary and the Assistant General Secretary which would be staggered. The Chairman stated that this is to ensure that there is continuity.

Other speakers at the event are Pharm. Lere Baale, Pharm. Abimbola Adebakin and Pharm. Adeshina Opanubi.
