Africa CDC Selects Nigeria, Six Others to Conduct COVID-19 Antibody Tests

The Africa Centre for Disease Control and Prevention says Nigeria and six other West African countries have been selected to commence COVID-19 antibody tests to determine the extent of the viral pandemic in Africa. Head of the regional body, John Nkengasong, disclosed this in Addis Ababa on Thursday. “Liberia, Sierra Leone, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Nigeria, Morocco are the first set of countries that are committed to it,” he said. He stated further that Western governments are using an antibody test to determine the number of infected citizens in the hope that it would help them decide whether it is safe enough to reopen their economies. Boss Mustapha, chairman of the presidential task force, PTF, Thursday said that out of thirteen thousand, eight hundred and forty-four, (13,844), evacuees tested for covid-19, about six hundred and eighty-four, (684), came out positive.
